Ce roman visuel et esth�tique est con�u comme un sc�nario th��tral ou cin�matographique aux multiples rebondissements. Autour de Vivienne et Alastair, en proie avec une crise de milieu de vie qui les fait souffrir en silence, gravitent une multitude de personnages hauts en couleurs. Sur fond de spleen londonien, une alchimie inattendue nait entre deux personnes que la crise r�veille et r�v�le � eux m�mes. Ensemble ils se rel�vent et cherchent � r�pondre � une vocation enfouie: l'�criture pour Alastair et la peinture pour Vivienne. Cette qu�te les entraine vers des horizons insoup�onn�s et brise leurs cadres pr��tablis. Une spirale de vie qui aspire �galement leurs amis et familles. Un vrai regal, on voyage, on apprend plein de choses et on se retrouve dans tel ou tel aspects des personnages. Ceux-ci sont tellement attachants qu'ils restent presents en memoire bien apr�s la lecture du roman. Et la thematique de la periode de transition du milieu de la vie qui peut rendre encore plus explosive la vie d'expatrie est enfin abordee en litterature. Il etait temps ! Se plonger dans cette touchante histoire offre d'excellents moments !

Best one yet

I have to give it to Tina. Every time I read her newest release I say to myself "this one is the best or even the hottest one yet." But hot damn Tina, I don't think this could have gotten any hotter. I loved Luther's Return. I thought this was the perfect story for Luther.

Katie omg I just love her. She grew up being wronged. She was a Hollywood star with no family. Found her family in Yvette's Haven. Found herself working as drama teacher. Something goes haywire and she finds herself with Scanguards enemy. Will she be able to work with him? Or will everything go wrong? Read Luther's Return today and find out.

Luther I have to admit I didn't think any Scanguard could beat Amuary's Hellion. But after reading this, yeah I was so wrong. Luther is the type of man a girl dreams about. After being free he falls into a situation where his help his needed by Katie. He has always brought his mind back to his past. Will his past push him away from Katy or will his push his way past it and love again?

I so recommend you check out Luther's Return. It has the action, the love, and the oh snap I did not see that coming. Tina Folsom is just amazing.

I've fallen in love with a villain!

Luther has been held in vampire prison for twenty years. He has done his time for trying to kill Sampson and Amaury's mates and while at the time he thought that his actions were justified, he regrets that he didn't trust his friends. The first thing he does once he's released is head to San Francisco to apologize so that he will be able to get on with his life. He knows that he failed his mate when it mattered most and that it was no one's fault but his own that she died and he needs for them to know that. Things don't always go as planned though. Luther arrives the same night that Sampson's daughter disappears and the Scanguards are positive that Luther has played a part in her disappearance. Will hatred and fear make them realize that he's telling the truth or will fear of what happened in the past blind them to what's happening now?

Katie Fairfax has had lifetime of problems. She's tried to put them all behind her when she left Hollywood and she now teaches drama at a college in San Francisco. When a last minute change in the lineup for the play that she's both directing and playing a part in leads to one of her pupils disappearing, she knows that it's her fault and she'll do anything to help find her, even if that means teaming up with the enemy.

This story takes place twenty years after Amaury's Hellion and boy have a lot things changed within the Scanguards families. If you've read the other stories, you know who has married whom but here you find out just how large those families have become. Isabella is of course the oldest hybrid child and is now twenty but almost all of our favorite characters now have children as well and most have more than one. While it was a little difficult to remember who belongs to who since there are so many children now, the family tree at the front of the book helps with sorting it all out. I'm in hopes that these children, many on the verge of adulthood, will be in future books and that we can continue to watch them grow and see where their lives will lead.

Now back to Luther and Katie's story. I have fallen in love with a villain. From his very first meeting with Katie, you will remember her from book 4 as she is Haven and Wesley's little sister, Luther feels drawn to her just as much as Katie feels drawn to him. Luther can't say seem to say no to her and finds himself right back where he started from, back in the vampire prison. This book was amazing and has long been one of my favorite series. Tina is an amazing writer that does a great job in linking each book to the others so that you can honestly pick up reading anywhere in the series and be fine but trust me when I say that if you haven't read this series, it's best to just start at the beginning because you are in for one hell of ride!

Sweet Mercy Atonement

Everyone deserves redemption. When we first had a glimpse of Luther in the past I knew he had his reasons. I'm glad he wasn't killed also glad he wanted to have atonement for what he did.

It was strange however going into 20 years after the last book release but so easy to understand. I think I would love to see a book/books on each of our Scansguards characters make them little novellas to see what they went through. Maya figured out how to give Yvette her dream of having children. I'm fascinated with Grayson because despite who's your favorite it's always been Samson for me. Now its a tie with Luther. So if Grayson gets a book to and if he is like his father well damn chit will hit the fan lol.

Tina's writing is amazing in this series I cried and felt for Luther and understood why he did what he caused I don't condone it but it still makes you see why. And let's face it we are in a world with Vampires and the male or female are protective of their mates. Other books I've read in paranormal vamps aren't suppose to have a conscious and I love that we get that with Tina's series. I was thinking with Katie/Kimberly she would be a lot older because she no longer held her witch powers but Tina had explained how she still aged slowly despite not having them, she's still a witch.

Folsom just can't go wrong with this series. There's four authors I follow constantly just waiting for the next one to come out and hoping they won't end. And apparently we will get more with Blake's Pursuit. No disappointments in this book for me. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars it's worth so much more.

Mr. Mostafa put well an "so many years" experienced view and knowledge of telecommunication projects on his book, being an important contribution for us who work on this market. I learned important topics of telecom projects so I hardly recommend this book to all of my partners.

Great overview

This book is a great overview of zoning. It gives you the basics -- all of them, but it is definitely for people who know very little about zoning. If you are finding yourself in your first zoning battle, make this your first book. If you already have a general understanding of zoning and its processes, then you already know everything in this book.

Whether or not you will absolutely love this book or find it a waste of money is dependent entirely on your level of knowledge and what you are looking for. This is perfect for those who are just learning about zoning or those who need to brush up.

The book really is a complete guide to zoning. A great primer for anyone starting on their first development or zoning project; but also helpful to those of us already working in the field who come across new and interesting challenges.

how zoning creates sprawl and high prices

What makes this fabulous book unique is that rather than focusing just on the law of zoning or just on the politics of same, Merriam does both- and in language that a nonlawyer can understand. He writes not just about the basics of zoning procedure, but also about how to assemble experts and present your case in a way likely to persuade a zoning board or city council.

In addition, Merriam's work contains some inadvertent clues as to why most American neighborhoods and suburbs are so sprawling and expensive. State and local laws typically require that an attempt to rezone property must be accompanied by some form of notice to neighbors- and so to get government approval, a developer must get neighbors' approval.

And to get that approval, developers must often change their plans in ways that increase the price of housing, make neighborhoods less walkable, or both. For example:

*The neighbors might be worried about traffic congestion. So the developer tries to appease them by widening the roads on its property, thus making that subdivision a scarier place to walk (and also reducing the amount of land available for housing).

*The neighbors might be worried about density. So the developer has to reduce the units in its subdivision, thus reducing housing supply.

*And sometimes, the developer has to just give something to neighborhood groups, essentially bribing them for permission to build. For example, Merriam points out that he sometimes has bought neighborhood goodwill by offering to pay a neighborhood group's lawyers and experts. He also suggests other little payoffs, such as setting aside open space for a neighborhood. I suspect that at least some of these costs are passed on to home buyers.

THEN CAME YOU - Gamblers Book One - 4.5 Stars

Lately I've been re-reading stories by some of my favorite authors and THEN CAME YOU is one of them. Its the first book in Kleypas' "Gamblers" series and was just such a great story. First of all, I love a strong female heroine who defies convention which is Lily through and through. During the very first chapter she makes a scene and causes a stir, which is actually when Alex first takes notice of her. She was too funny and I never knew what to expect from her, because she simply doesn't care. I also loved her independence and strong will, which always make for an interesting character.

It honestly took me a while to warm up to Alex who was very quiet in the beginning and seemed to be brooding most of the time. Then there was his former fiancee who he seemed obsessed with, which I admit got on my nerves a bit. But when he finally thaws out and gets over his past, his newfound love for Lily was beautiful to behold. Alex even sticks by her side and helps her when he discovers Lily's not so perfect past. In the end a bold heroine and a strong hero made this an historical romance not to be missed. Just a truly wonderful, smart, charming, and deeply touching love story!

Good; Sequel Even Better

This was my first Lisa Kleypas and I enjoyed it. I do agree with the reviewers that said the sequel, Dreaming of You, which I read after this. The first part of Then Came You dragged. Still if you don't mind persisting, it's a clever tale of an aristocratic young woman whose life takes a bad turn with a few decisions. Which of us can't say we've made some bad ones? That she becomes an independent, witty and wild woman who all Regency London is mad about seems sweet revenge, but she has a dark secret that holds her heart and a sadness many don't see.

I was furious with the way Derek treated her notwithstanding his fear of love, and I didn't like the way Alex, Lord Raiford, was willing to shame her in public (even if it was the age of scandal). But Alex manages to redeem himself in the end and Derek is a believable and heartbreaking character--and that's all to the good.

We want Lilly to find love; she is so lovable. I didn't think I'd like Derek's story (book #2, Dreaming of You) because knowing he was in love with Lilly, I didn't see how he could find another, but Kleypas did a good job of it and the second tale is quite good and Derek comes out a good hero.

Kleypas does an excellent job with the lovemaking scenes; they are varied, believable and appropriate to the action and the characters. I can recommend these books and thus rate them a 4 star.

This is a very good, thorough, and informative text that covers all the basics of sedimentology and stratigraphy. It is frequently used as a textbook in such classes, including when I took it at Baylor University. It is easy to understand, well-organized, and very clear.

Good book but you'll feel robbed

Let me get this part out of the way quickly: This book was originally $180 (Jan 2014) with similar prices at other sites. I found it for $149.00 at textbook site and alerted Amazon; they quickly lowered it to $149 within a few days (yay Amazon!). Currently, the book is at $122 (March 2014).

The book writing is good. BUT, it lacks in a few areas. My biggest gripe is that for a book of such high price, it has ZERO color photographs! It does have some illustrations, but they are all black and white. To me, this is a huge disappointment, especially in a field like geology, where color is of importance. The book pages have a similar consistency to bible paper with everything black/white. I wanted to throw this book into the fireplace a few times due to no color photographs. Luckily, the book writing is good (and I needed the book). When the book describe soil horizons and colors of each horizon or color of strata bands, you will be disappointed to find a small black and white image. Also, the majority of the photographs that are black and white are of low degraded quality. Some images are senseless, since you cannot distinguish features that are being discussed. If you are a visual learner (most of us are), or like to see color images as you read, the lack of color images may make the book bland during reading. This book should not have been $180, $149, or even $100.

Chapter summaries. The book doesn't have any, but contain 'conclusions' that are really, really concise. Anywhere from 2 sentences to a paragraph. If you are the type to look for summaries a year later or as needed after reading the book, you will NOT be happy.

The book does not have a 'student resource' site. Not that this is a big deal, but most college textbooks have a resource site to view color illustrations (this book need them!), summaries, and other learning activities.

The writing is good. It reads straight through in paragraphs, no learning stuff on the bottom/top corners, no extra boxes anywhere on the pages with 'key terms,' nothing, except black/white figures if the paragraph mention them. The MOST you will get is BOLD letters on some terms. If there was color, somethings could be color-coded. You will learn as you read, but some concepts aren't broken down. You will need a highlighter and take notes to make this book work 100%.

I believe this is like the second book on the market concerning 'sedimentary geology,' so it may be part of the reason why it's pricey and no colors. Yes, I keep mentioning that, I feel "robbed" due to nothing in color!!! Luckily, my professor said great things about Prothero. I'm about to mail his arse a collection of colors and a "Color for Dummies" book!!

Good Book

Required for an undergraduate class, but I definitely keep it around as a reference and refresher. A few small typos I noticed, but no more than any text book.
Be careful if you buy it used, some of the first ones printed on the second edition didn't get the cover spine glued on right - I had friends whose books were literally falling apart after a week. If you send it back to the printers, I think they'll send you a new one, but it's a pain so heads up.
